Deciding On My Next Primary Desktop PC

I am still one of those writers who uses a desktop PC. Reason being is that I like the fact I can have a lot of hard disk, heavy duty processing power, and two large screen monitors. While I use a MacBook Pro as my other primary writing machine–nothing beats a large monitor for my eyes.

The Intersection of Social Media, the Web Office & Technical Writing

I’ve been spending some of my downtime contemplating the intersection of Social Media, Web Offices, and technical writing. These technological and platform changes are going to overwhelm the technical writers who have been doing their job the same day from when they fired up their first employer’s PC on day 1 of their first job out of college.

Look for my posts starting this month.

Checking Out SlideRocket

The good folks at SlideRocket hit me up on Twitter a few weeks back after reading a blog post I wrote about Acrobat.com Presentations offering me a look at their product.

PowerPoint presentations are just asking to be put online via a service like SlideRocket and Acrobat.com Presentations so I was more than happy to check out their product.

The Statue of Limitations on Original Ideas

While it can be hard to admit to many organizations, ideas do get recycled. Take for example, in politically hot climates where executives are fighting to hold onto their jobs and bloated compensation plans that don’t take into account their competency and body of work. It’s all about survival mode these days.

For a while, there has been a running joke with some of my friends and colleagues about the Statue of Limitations on Original Ideas to account for stolen ideas. The Statue of Limitations on Original Ideas starts the moment a manager or executive shoots down an underling’s idea and and expires the move the manager or executive recycles the ideas as their own creation.

Random and Recent Projects

I've been in a real tinkering mode as of late. Perhaps it's because I reread my copy of the Lifehacker book at the pool over last weekend.
